Every Mercury Retrograde, when technology and communication are in the garbage and everything feels stuck and horrible, I make tapes for people to process my thoughts and emotions, hold onto my sanity, and stay connected to people despite the challenges. They often function as testing grounds for my Seasonal Mixtape Series. Anyone can receive a tape and you can sign up simply by contacting me and sending me your mailing address. That will be the end of this series. I can’t find good tapes and a big part of the reason is increased expense due to environmental protection laws and horrible ongoing atrocities like the cobalt mining genocide, which high bias cassettes and all devices for using digital media are reliant on. I will keep making the seasonal mixtapes, but they’re moving to digital only: while I can’t do much about our society’s near total reliance on the internet and computers, I can choose to not participate in tape-making. The tapes were extremely helpful and I will always come back to them for insight and inspiration. I am grateful to everyone who participated along the way.
