Rocio Zavala Creates Music From Light

I was grateful for the opportunity to shed some light on the debut album from Rocio Zavala and to sit down with her in this suburban Chicago pizzeria she loves to talk about the process leading up to its creation before she took off for LA. It’s absolutely one of the best drone albums I have listened to this year and definitely also one I have returned to the most. This is music for creating calm in darkness and uncertainty, something I have no doubt all of us could use presently. Check it out! I have been putting “Interparalis” on a lot of mixtapes lately.

I recommend checking out the Monastral imprint in general. It’s a newer label housing a lot of great experimental and beautiful things happening in the Chicago area, with a diverse roster of people pursuing truly unique sounds and visions.
